I am a big advocate for the sim but when you are trying to encourage people to try the sim and get involved with LFM it's had to argue the point of it being very expensive to buy dlc, esp when you need all the dlc on the server. The actual graphics, in game, with maxed out settings on 2k and 4k are just terrible. This should be the answer to those who say rF2 has no modding community. However I have a few questions. MP is slim. The AI is better in rfactor 2 (as, for me, is the force feedback), but can require some experimentation and tweaking of config files to get the best out of it. I like the Group C and Classic F1 cars with manual gearbox, Project Cars 2 I also use. But man once I tried rFactor 2 at Silverstone, day & night comparing Assetto Corsa with Formula Hybrid 22 with cockpit view and rFactor 2 with Formula Hybrid 22 cockpit view. The former has the A110 Cup and GT4 cars, both of which are incredibly fun beginner cars (the A110 GT4 is one of my favourite cars out of all racing sims) and the latter has the highest quality late gen LMP1 you can get in rF2 (rF2 doesn't support hybrid powertrains yet I forgot to mention: rFactor 2 supports "Steam Workshop", so it's easier to find mods thru this central location, easier to install mods, and the mods you subscribe auto-updated themselves when the mod-developers release new versions. KartSim is really good quality, AI is lots of fun to race against (way better than KK), and there's more content to enjoy (all the first party tracks from KartSim plus others on the rF2 workshop). Absolutely the best Sim out there now. Also the online multiplayer is completely dead in RF2. I am in a huge self-debate on whether to download Assetto Corsa or rFactor 2. However I don't think they even make that many sales. Rfactor 2 is now my go to sim. Online is ok but not great. The rF2 base game itself has always been cheap for what you're getting, which is the best sim on the market. When I initially tried to open the app and it did the updating workshop items screen it got down to 8 remaining then snowed nothing and made no progress. There won't be death zone but your wheel will start to be really noisy. However, rF2 imo still has by far the best FFB. It offers the latest in vehicle and race customization, great graphics, outstanding multiplayer and the height of racing realism. To fix this kind of problem, rFactor 2 implemented minimum steering torque feature. rFactor 2 I feel still suffers from the very high slip angle that encourages just throwing cars around corners. I would love to do either a WEC season or IMSA season doing half distance, so 12 hours for Daytona, 6 hours for Sebring for example with time sped up by 2x.
